Why is it that Jews can become successful after oppression, but blacks cannot?

The persecution of Jews made them successful. It forced them into money-lending, banking and professional occupations that are easily portable (medicine, law etc.) so that they could pack up and leave in the event of persecution instead of being tied to the land like farmers.
