Do you think my mom is lying about this?

My mom says we are going to move to NY to help my sister's potential modeling career when this school year is over but I don't want to go since I have friends, a boyfriend, and I'm a star athlete here and I'll have a good chance of getting a college scholarship since next year is my senior year. I had asked my dad if I could stay with him and my stepmom and their kids for the year and even said I'll sleep on the couch if I had to and he had said he didn't see why not and that was 3 days ago but this morning my mom told me that he said that he didn't think it was a good idea because his wife wouldn't like it and told her to tell me that! But a part of me thinks she's lying and just saying that to hurt me because she doesn't want me to stay anyway but should I believe her. It's true that he hardly talks to me anyway and I only see him every now and then when we have dinner together on Sundays but I'm not sure if my mom is just saying this to get me to go to NY with them or not. I tried calling him but he won't answer the phone.
