What did you think of the movie caligula?

To be honest when I first saw it I thought it was ok, being a big fan of malcolm mcdowell from his films "if..." and "clockwork orange" I thought he put in a great performance, I saw the theatrical version a long time ago, and on channel 4 there was a longer cut once, recently got the imperial edition set because I'm interested in the alternate version as I heard its a lot better and makes more sense though I havent got round to watching it yet
