Lump bellow my jawline...?

four years ago, i woke up with a swelling bellow my left jawline. my doctor gave me antibiotics for a week and advised me to have a tooth pulled. The swelling stopped and I ignored the latter advise- having a tooth pulled. Since, the lump did not really disappeared. It is still present up to this day, still of the same size (and movable). My worry is if my ignoring my doctor's advise could cause a more serious medical condition on the long run. The lump does not hurt except during days prior to having colds or influenza. I want any advise from any medical experts out here... (btw, i experience from time to time gum bleeding)... thanks in advance
