Carseat placement when middle doesn't have LATCH?

I personally never placed my children in the center. Although it is considered safer on a side impact crash but when you have 2 kids you don't have that option anymore! If you properly install the seat with the safety belt it should be as safe as the LATCH however I never felt like I got it tight enough with the belt. The LATCH is much easier to get as tight as you are supposed to have it.
